Our farm, the Bacherhof has been owned by the Bacher family since 1633 and has always been handed over to the "Mannesstamme". For this reason of family ownership, we are a hereditary farm.
The estate was formerly under the manorial rule of the Counts of Kuenburg. On 2 January 1633 Blasi Seitlinger sold his lands at the farm to Gröbendorf to his neighbor, Georg Bacher. Since then, the farm has always been owned by the Bacher family.
Currently the Bacherhof comprises approx. 23.9 ha of arable land and 30.4 ha of forest.
Our ranch, as we call it so lovingly, is right in the heart of the Lungau at about 1.100 m above sea level and belongs to the municipality Mariapfarr.
The farm has four branches:
livestock and dairy farming,
the cultivation of potatoes and cereals,
the forestry and
the tourism
In our barn, we have an average of 35 cattle, including 12 to 15 dairy cows. Furthermore, a horse, two sheep, two rabbits and our farm and stable cats, all of whom are happy about visitors.
In addition to the green fodder for our animals we produce on about 3ha the well-known "Lungauer Eachtling" as we are called the potatoes. Due to the high location of the Lungau (over 1,000 m above sea level) and the natural, humus-rich, sandy soils, the best potatoes thrive here.
Furthermore, on our farm on ca.7ha barley multiplied. Here, too, altitude and our soil are particularly good at producing resistant and high-quality seed.
The forestry industry is also of great importance on our farm.
